In addition to my love for geology, I have a range of passions that balance me.
A life of loving and playing music has shaped who I am and how I think. I grew up playing cello, but trombone became my primary musical outlet during my undergraduate. I was active in the Vanderbilt trombone studio, and graduated with a minor in trombone. At Rice, I can often be found in a practice room, listening to performances at Rice and in Houston, or dramatically attempting to sing my favorite orchestral music while in the lab.
While at home in Kentucky, I spend as much time as possible caring for an ever-growing herd of horses looked after by my family. My non-geology skills include extensive experience cleaning stalls, as well as training young horses and going on hikes with my horse.
In my spare time in Houston, I enjoy running and knitting – I excitedly wait for the rare cold days in Texas when I can break out my stash of handmade sweaters!
